Harrison Vintners was founded in 1976 by Douglas Harrison as a spin off from his catering activities and as a focus for his primary interest - wine.
For nearly 30 years now Harrison Vintners has nurtured a broad and faithful client base. The clientele is principally composed of Hotels, Restaurants and Clubs, but also includes many private customers as well. Most of these customers are based in the London area, but the specialisation in Swiss Wine has encouraged new business throughout the country. The overriding, defining character of the business has been the emphasis on quality wines from individual Domaines and Estates.
In addition, under the Best of Switzerland trading name, Harrison Vintners is the largest importer of Swiss Wines in the UK and the sole UK agent for the four most respected wine producers in Switzerland, plus the unique Vin de Fraise from Cristallo. The customer base is similar to that of Harrison Vintners but with the addition of diplomatic and duty-free sales.
At present the principle business is focused on growers in the classical appellations of France, including: Bordeaux (Chateaux Plaisance, Villhardy, de Pressac and Capet-Guillier); Burgundy (Domaine du Clos Frantin, Lupé Cholet and Domaine du Pavillon); Premier Cru Champagne (Philippe Guidon), Grand Cru Champagne (Bruno Vesselle); Rhone (Roger Perrin and Domaine Le Clos de Cazaux); Alsace (Ringenbach-Moser); Chablis (Domaine Long-Depaquit and Domaine Bernard Defaix) and Loire (Domaine Fouassier). The full range of Grande Champagne Cognac produced by Daniel Bouju is also imported.
The portfolio also features Rioja from Bodegas Marques de Carrion; Cava from Jaume Serra and, from California, the highly acclaimed wines of ZD Vineyards. Most of the trading relationships are long-established but, as the List expands, new ones are added from time to time.
The customer base includes internationally recognised names such as Chapter Restaurants, Chewton Glen, Claridges, Club Gascon, Exclusive Hotels Group, The Goring, The Great Eastern, The Grosvenor Marriott, Hotel du Vin, The Howard, Le Gavroche, Nobu, Nobu Berkeley, The Ritz, The Royal Garden, Rules and Selfridges. |
