E. Guigal

The Guigal family first established a wine business in Ampuis, at the northernmost tip of the Rhône valley, in 1946, in the heart of the Côte Rôtie vineyard. Marcel Guigal joined his father in 1961, and his own son Philippe has since joined him to continue the family tradition. Madame Guigal is also thoroughly involved in the running of the family business.

The Guigals' high reputation has been made in the Appellations of Condrieu and Côte Rôtie in the Northern Rhône. Now, since the acquisition in 2001 of the Domaines De Vallouit and Jean Louis Grippat, they are also vineyard owners in Hermitage and Saint Joseph. Both Marcel and Philippe Guigal believe that their wines are 'made in the vineyard', adding modestly that all they do is to give a helping hand.
